Shure has announced the AONIC 50 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones and the AONIC 215 true wireless noise suppression earphones, both with wireless connectivity. The products were made in collaboration with Adam Levine with whom the Chicago company has been working for over ten years (Shure also makes microphones and equipment for those who make music in the studio and live).
Shure AONIC 50
The Shure AONIC 50’s weighs 334 grams and uses 50mm drivers. The technical specifications report an impedance of 39 ohms, a 97dB/mW sensitivity and a maximum input power level of 100 mW. Wireless connectivity is based on Bluetooth 5.0 with a range of up to 10 meters. The aptX, aptX HD, aptX Low Latency, Sony LDAC, AAC and SBC codecs are supported. The most interesting feature is definitely the adjustable noise cancellation through the ShurePlus PLAY application for iOS and Android. The AONIC 50 also features ambient sound mode, which allows you to hear external noises with just the push of a button.
The wireless noise cancelling headphones also provide controls to answer calls, adjust the volume and pause or start the music. The pavilions can be rotated to facilitate transport. A special protective case is provided. Analog input on a 3.5 mm jack allows you to connect any source without Bluetooth. You can take advantage of the USB-C port which is also useful for charging. Shure declares a maximum battery of up to 20 hours for this new active noise control headphones.
Shure AONIC 215
The AONIC 215 voice cancellation earphones are in-ear type and adopt a system that embraces the upper part of the ear, in order to ensure a more secure fit even during busy activities. The two elements weigh 21 grams connect via Bluetooth 5.0. The data sheet reports an impedance of 17ohms, a sensitivity of 107 dB/mW and a frequency response between 21 Hz and 18 kHz.
Shure AONIC 215 is equipped with an MMCX connector and can also be used with compatible cables (there are various types available on the market). The AONIC 215 is, therefore, earphones model SE215 combined with the wireless adapter.
The isolation from external noise is entrusted to the Sound Isolating technology, capable of blocking up to 37dB from the outside. As on the AONIC 50, we find the ambient sound mode, adjustable, together with the equalizer, through the ShurePlus PLAY application. AONIC 215 supports aptX, AAC and SBC codecs. The built-in battery guarantees up to 8 hours of life. Charging is done by inserting the earphones inside the case. The latter allows you to add three more charges for a total of 32 hours of operation.
The noise cancelling earbuds attenuate the background noise, so you can curate an immersive listening experience. However, with the touch of a button, you can put the headphones into Environmental Mode, so you can hear the outside world and pay attention to your surroundings.
