Seagate introduces New 12TB Hard Drives for NAS and PC Desktop

Seagate has launched a new line of high-capacity hard drives, well over 12TB of storage space for all types of users. The hard disk giant extends its Guardian series, designed not only for NAS but also for workstations and desktop systems that require high capacity disks.

First, is the new Seagate Barracuda Pro is designed for workstations, but also for professionals who want to assemble a desktop PC. The drive obviously has a 3.5″ form factor, a 7200 RPM rotating speed and a 6 Gbps SATA interface, and performance also guaranteed by a 256MB cache, the company declares a peak of 250 MB / s sustained transfer rate.

If you are geared to assembling a NAS, large or small, the option is called Seagate IronWolf NAS. It is available in two variants, IronWolf and IronWolf Pro, technically similar but with greater reliability for the Pro version, NAS is designed for professional, SOHO for small and medium-sized businesses.

The technical specifications are similar to the Barracuda Pro: SATA 6 Gbps, 7200RPM and 256MB cache. Looking at the official specifications, however, we notice that the IronWolf model stops at a transfer rate of 210 MB / s while IronWolf Pro is pushed to 250 MB / s.
