Western Digital (WD or WDC) has introduced “SanDisk Professional”, a new brand for high-quality storage solution systems. The new premium brand is aimed at content creators or creatives such as photographers and film vendors as well as other professionals who want to create extensive data and save it securely in order to work with it.
From producing the latest blockbuster film to capturing the moment of a wedding to managing business-critical content – the versatile “SanDisk Professional” storage solution product portfolio is designed to offer scalable, powerful, and reliable solutions for all industries. On the one hand, the range includes memory products that are already known as products from the SanDisk and G-Technology brands belonging to the WD Corporation and have been on the market for a long time. On the other hand, some completely new memory products will soon be launched under the new brand.
Storage Solution for Professionals and Creators
Professional content that is ingested or created needs to be stored, transferred, offloaded, shared, and archived. SanDisk Professional offers several specially designed storage products to cover every step of this process.
The new “SanDisk Professional” line, which was created based on the well-known consumer brand “SanDisk” and the professional “G-Technology” brand, offers 16 modular workflow solutions with professional performance and enterprise-class reliability.
A brand new, rugged, professional-quality CFexpress card for videographers and cinematographers who need uninterrupted video recording performance of at least 400MB/s to keep up with the demands of today’s videography, broadcast, and cinema industries.
The card reader series consists of four new Pro-Reader models, all of which have a USB-C interface, which in turn supports SuperSpeed USB 10Gbs. They were developed for use with the latest and most popular storage media for cameras. CFast, CFexpress, CF, microSD, and SD cards as well as Red Mini-Mag are offered.
The new reader docking station with four slots for individual card readers is a scalable offloading solution that saves critical time and money in productions with multiple cameras. The Pro-Dock 4 enables up to four simultaneous card offloads.
A new 4TB G-Drive ArmorLock Encrypted NVMe SSD complements the proven range of ultra-robust portable G-Drive drives, all of which were previously offered under the G-Technology brand, desktop storage drives in which the “WD Ultrastar” HDDs work, and the transportable RAID solutions G-RAID and G-RAID Shuttle are now equipped with Thunderbolt-3 and USB-C interfaces. The range offers a large, versatile selection of reliable, high-performance, high-capacity drives for all storage tasks from transport to backup and archiving for all types of content.
Prices and availabilities
Some of the “SanDisk Professional” storage solution products are already available to pre-order on Bhphotovideo.com and Adorama.com under one of the two brands – mainly the G-Technology brand, but will in the future be offered under the new brand. The new external HDD drives, portable SSD drive, and card readers as well as the aforementioned docking station are expected to hit the market in June 2021.
