Samyang 12mm f2.0 X AF Wide Angle lens for Fujifilm X

Samyang has unveiled the 12mm f2.0 X, its first wide angle lens with autofocus for the Fujifilm X-Mount APS-C format. The new super-wide Samyang 12mm f2.0 AF delivers an 18mm 35mm equivalent focal length and, as the name suggests, a maximum aperture of f/2 for shooting in challenging lighting conditions.

The optical design consists of 12 elements in 10 groups, including 5 special elements – 1 H-ASP, 1 ASP, and 3 ED. The manufacturer promises sharpness even at maximum aperture. Three extra-low dispersion (ED) lenses and two high refractive lenses (H-ASP and ASP) effectively combat all types of aberrations. The lens uses a special 14-layer Ultra-Multi-Coating (UMC) that suppresses flare. The lens has an ultra-wide field of view – 99.1 °. The lens comes with a hood.

The manufacturer emphasizes that the lens is compact, lightweight, and perfect for working with small Fujifilm X-series cameras, and this bundle will also reveal itself when working with stabilizers. The closest focusing distance is only 20 cm. Thanks to the stepping motor (STM), autofocus is fast and quiet. The case is protected from light rain, snow, and dust.

The Samyang 12mm f2.0 X AF uses a large aperture for attractive background blur. The lens is compatible with Fujifilm X-H1, X-S10, X-pro 1, X-pro 2, X-pro 3, X-E1, X-E2, X-E2s, X-E3, X-E4, X- T1, X-T2, X-T3, X-T4, X-T10, X-T20, X-T30. Incompatible models: X-A1 / X-A2 / X-A3 / X-A4 / X-A5 / X-A7 / X-A10 / X-T100 / X-T200.
