Samsung unveils new Curved Gaming Monitors with QLED and HDR

Samsung announced its first QLED monitor, which is obvious after the announcement of its QLED TVs. There are two series announced: CHG90 and CHG70, both naturally equipped with LCD display with Quantum Dot. The Samsung QLED monitors use a curved VA-type LCD panel (1800R curvature).

Samsung Curved Gaming Monitor

First is the Samsung CHG90 series includes a 49-inch screen size, 32:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 3840 x 1080 pixels. The specific response time is 1ms (MPRT – Motion Picture Response Time), the 178-degree viewing angle along both axes and it is possible to display 1.07 billion colors.

Samsung talks about a refresh rate to 144Hz and DCI-P3 coverage space up to 95 percent, while sRGB is guaranteed a coverage of 125 percent. The monitor can also display HDR video at 600 cd/m2 nit peak brightness. Samsung CHG90 supports all new AMD FreeSync 2 technology that eliminates the stuttering and tearing that often disrupt gameplay to drive seamless frame transitions. The available input connections include a DisplayPort, a Mini-DisplayPort, two HDMI, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB 3.0 hub (1 up and 2 down).

QLED Monitors

The Samsung CHG70 series proposes two screen sizes: 27 and 31.5 inches curved monitors with 16:9 aspect ratio. Both sports VA curved panels and have 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution. Specifications are basically the same that we have already seen for the CHG90. So there are differences in terms of viewing angle, response time and coverage spaces. Even the support to HDR is also same, including the AMD FreeSync 2. For connectivity, just lack of the Mini-DisplayPort otherwise the rest of the specs are same.
