Samsung S9U DQHD monitor with QLED, 120 Hz and KVM switch

A new 49-inch Samsung ultra wide monitor called S49A950UIU (aka ‎LS49A950UIUXXU or Samsung S9U) will soon be coming from the South Korean giant. Samsung 49 inch monitor is in 32: 9 format, which, despite a frame rate of 120 Hz, is not aimed at gaming enthusiasts, but at business users who want to fill the space with a particularly large number of windows next to each other.

The DisplayHDR-400-certified device has a VA panel with DQHD resolution (5120 x 1440 pixels, 32: 9) at a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and is arched at 1800 R. In addition, a 3000: 1 contrast ratio, a 4 ms fast gray change, 10-bit color depth, and 350 cd/m² typical brightness are promised. A sync technology against tearing is completely dispensed with the backlight is supported by Quantum Dots.

The Samsung S9U is a slightly lower business version of the Samsung Odyssey G9 (approx. £999 on Amazon) because the frame rate drops from 240 Hz to 120 Hz, but many of the other specifications are the same. The screen monitor is based on a huge panel with a diagonal of 49 inches in 32: 9 format – so the screen is roughly the size of two 27-inch 16: 9 monitors standing next to each other.

The resolution is also comparable to such a setup because the Samsung S9U has 5,120 x 1,440 pixels with a pixel density of around 109 PPI. In conjunction with QLED backlighting, the panel can display 95 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. The Samsung computer monitor supports the display of HDR content, and the curvature radius is 1,800R.

Computers can optionally be connected via DisplayPort, via one of two HDMI connections, or via USB-C, whereby the USB port can charge a connected laptop with up to 90 watts at the same time. The monitor screen has an integrated USB hub and a LAN port for connection to a wired network. An integrated KVM switch assigns the keyboards and mice connected to the monitor directly to the device whose image is currently displayed on the monitor.
