Samsung UFC Micro-SD card with read speed of 530MBps Unveiled

Samsung has introduced next generations world’s first memory card based on the UFS (Universal Flash Storage) 1.0 Standard to get high-level read and write speed, can be compared with the SSD line. Samsung UFC Micro-SD card will be available in several storage options starting from 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and highest 256GB. 
New Samsung UFC memory card offer sequential read speed of up to 530MBps, which is on par with some SSDs and compared to 95MBps sequential read speed of UHS-1 microSD card. It has 170MBps sequential write speed, much faster than current fastest micro-SD card available in the market. Thus, it does not achieve 850 MB / sec speed like UFS 2.0 storage devices that Samsung launches earlier this year, but it is still very high in the world of micro-SD memory cards available today.

According to Samsung, The 256GB UFS card has random read rate of 40,000 IOPS, 350 times higher than the 100 IOPS of a typical microSD card, about 20 times higher than a standard micro-SD card. It has a write rate of 35,000 IOPS, which is also 350 times higher.

The design of the standard UFS cards is different than the standard micro-SD card or Toshiba UHS-II card. UHS II SD Card using two rows of connected pins while Samsung UFS card also has two rows, but only one line connected, the layout of the connector pins are also different. Most likely, the upcoming flagship Galaxy Note 7 will support this standard UFC memory card.
