Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 4K 240Hz monitor launches for $1,499

The Odyssey Neo G8 has arrived, months after Samsung revealed the 4K 240Hz monitor for gaming at CES 2022. The Samsung Neo G8 is finally available for $1,499.99 in the US.

The 32-inch model has a VA panel with 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels), up to 240 Hz refresh rate, and extreme 1000 R curvature. The HDR properties include both HDR10+ and HDR10+ gaming and can fall back on a peak brightness of 1000 cd/m². The backlight is supported by Quantum Dots and Mini LEDs, with 1196 dimming zones at the start.

The contrast ratio is 1,000,000:1, the response time is 1 ms (gray to gray), the color depth is 10 bits, and the DCI-P3 coverage is 95 percent. FreeSync Premium Pro is represented as the anti-tearing technology, which consequently also works in games with active HDR. The Samsung G8 Neo also includes G-Sync-compatible Adaptive Sync, a black stabilizer, a picture-in-picture mode, and lighting effects with CoreSync functionality.

The range of interfaces includes two HDMI 2.1 inputs, a DisplayPort 1.4, a USB 3.0 hub, and a headphone output. The Samsung Odyssey G8 Neo can be rotated, tilted, height adjusted, and pivoted. A VESA mount (100 x 100 mm), a blue light filter, and a flicker-free backlight have also been considered. The typical power consumption of the 4K 240Hz monitor, the back of which is white, is estimated at 74 watts.
