Among the features, Samsung mentions improved fall detection and – very important for smartwatches with Wear OS – longer battery life. It should be up to 50 hours. This is made possible, among other things, by a 13 percent larger battery than in the previous model (40 mm: 284 mAh; 44 mm: 410 mAh) – one of the most important innovations. Among other things, eight hours of sleep monitoring should be possible after just eight minutes of charging – thanks to a charging speed of 10 watts.

The display of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is protected for the first time by sapphire glass, which is 60 percent harder. If desired, the Google Assistant accepts voice commands on the wrist, and Google Maps enables orientation even without a smartphone connection.
