The Samsung G81SF gaming monitor, unveiled at CES earlier this year, has just entered a US pre-order phase. A 27-inch version and a 32-inch model are planned, with regular retail prices at approximately $1,299.99.
According to the Official product page, the new Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 gaming monitor uses a QD-OLED panel with 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels), a 240 Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, a 0.03 ms response time (gray to gray), 99 percent DCI-P3, and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Typical brightness is rated at 250 cd/m².
Regarding HDR capabilities, there’s DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification and additional support for the dynamic HDR10+ Gaming format. FreeSync Premium Pro ensures tear-free gaming sessions. A crosshair overlay can be activated if desired.
In terms of connectivity, the monitor offers two HDMI 2.1 inputs, a DisplayPort 1.4, a USB 3.0 hub, and a headphone output. Additionally, thanks to Auto Source Switch+, you no longer need to manually switch between connected signal sources.
The ergonomics are generous, with tilt, rotation, height adjustment (120 mm), pivot, VESA mounting (100 x 100 mm), and blue light filtering. Typical power consumption is 53 watts (27 inches) or 55 watts (32 inches). Special heat pipes with coolant cool the Samsung G81SF OLED monitor to minimize the risk of burn-in. According to reports, this method works five times better than traditional graphite-based solutions and eliminates the need for dynamic image brightness reduction. The OLED panels themselves also feature an anti-reflective coating.
Samsung G81SF Price and Release Date
As we mentioned above, Samsung priced the new Odyssey OLED G8 Gaming Monitor (2025) at $1,299.99. However, during the pre-order period, Amazon offers a $300 gift card, effectively bringing the price down to $999.99. The company plans to release the monitor on April 22, 2025.
Updated on April 17, 2025: It is now also available for pre-order for customers in the UK via Amazon.co.uk at £1,199.99 and will be released on April 21, 2025.
Samsung also started pre-ordering its glasses-free stereoscopic monitor, the Odyssey 3D, also known as the Samsung G90XF or LS27FG900X. Interested parties can pre-order at Amazon for $1,999.99 or £1,899.99. It will be released on April 21, 2025.
