Samsung Chromebook Plus V2 With 13MP Camera, New Keyboard Announced

Samsung introduced Chromebook Plus V2 is a definite step forward compared to the already available original Chromebook Plus, although at first glance it seems almost the same device. This year the South Korean producer opts for fine enhancements: for example, the keyboard has new keycaps, curved for better comfort, and resistant to water splashes, the nib has also been modified to align perfectly with the new curved profile of the chassis.

On board, we also find two USB Type-C ports, a microSD card reader and a USB Type-A port; the front camera remains 1MP, but on the keyboard, there is a completely new one with 13MP; so, when using the device in tablet mode, you also have a rear camera. The sensor is coupled to a lens with a f/1.9 aperture, a value that should guarantee good performance even with poor lighting.

The processor is perhaps the most striking news. Last year’s ARM architecture went to x86 – as an entry level, with a Celeron 3965Y; the GPU is the Intel HD Graphics 615, and is accompanied with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There is a step back on the display: from the 2400 x 1600 pixels of the previous generation it goes down to FHD 1080p and a pixel density of 185 pixels per inch (against the previous 234ppi). Note that it decreases slightly – let’s say imperceptibly – also the diagonal of the display: from 12.3 inches to 12.2.

The Samsung Chromebook Plus V2 price remains the same at $499 and sales start from June 24th in the US via BestBuy.
