Roku has renewed its 2018 series streaming player range. There are three new models available: New Roku Premiere, Roku Premiere+ and Roku Ultra.

New Roku Premiere looks very similar to the Roku Express was launched in 2017. The differences are however numerous. Under the body, we find a quad-core processor and Ultra HD with HDR support for streaming (HDR10 compatible). The equipment is always very simplified. There is an HDMI output that supports signals up to 3840 x 2610 pixels at 60 fps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n and a remote control with no special features. Roku Premiere can upscale all sources in Full HD and 720p resolution. As far as audio is concerned, pass through (HDMI) of DTS and Dolby Digital is supported.

New Roku Premiere+ is essentially identical to the last year’s Roku Express+. The only differences are the remote control, equipped with a microphone for search and voice commands and buttons to adjust the volume of the TV. Roku Premiere is priced at $39.99 while Roku Premiere + is sold for $ 49.99, an exclusive for Wallmart.

At the top of the range is the New Roku Ultra, practically unchanged to its predecessor, but with an enriched endowment. In fact, JBL in-ear headphones are worth $39.95. The headphones can be connected to the appropriate output on the remote control, so you can continue listening in silent mode without having to bring a cable to the TV. Roku Ultra supports Ultra HD and HDR signals (HDR10) and enriches the connectivity with an Ethernet port, a USB port, and a MicroSD slot. The remote control is also equipped with buttons for video games and a speaker capable of emitting a sound to indicate its positioning (press a button on the set-top box when you do not remember where the control unit was placed).

The formats supported on the USB port are as follows:

Video: H.264 / AVC (.MKV, .MP4, .MOV), H.265 / HEVC (.MKV, .MP4, .MOV); VP9 (.MKV)
Audio: AAC (.MKV, .MP4, .MOV); MP3 (.MP3, .MKV); WMA (.ASF, .WMA, .MKV), FLAC (.FLAC, .MKV), PCM (.WAV, .MKV, .MP4, .MOV), AC3 / EAC3 (.MKV, .MP4 .MOV,. AC3), DTS (.MKV, .MP4, .MOV), ALAC (.MKV, .MP4, .MOV, .M4A)

New Roku Ultra price is set at $99.99, and new streaming media players will be available starting in October.

Roku has finally announced several new arrivals with Roku OS 9. The update that will arrive from November will bring interesting changes. The first is Google Assistant, the voice assistant that will allow you to manage multiple functions with your own voice. Users can use voice interaction to play videos, pause, or search for content. Support for Pandora Premium and Spotify is also introduced. Other novelties consist in the voice search of free content and in the “Automatic Volume Leveling”, a function available when the media-players are connected to the Roku TV Wireless Speaker.
