Rokinon AF 85mm F1.4 FE II Second Gen Lens is Faster and Compact

Now Rokinon brings the second generation of the lens with some improvements. The AF 85mm F1.4 FE II comes with faster autofocus and is smaller and 60 grams lighter. The more compact design is also reflected in the filter thread, which is now 72 mm instead of 77 mm. The lens is designed for mirrorless full-frame cameras but is also suitable for camera models with a smaller APS-C image sensor, where it then corresponds to a stronger 122mm telephoto concerning 35mm.

The 4 HR (High Refractive) and 1 ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) glass elements of this new Rokinon 85mm F1.4 FE II ensure great contrast and excellent resolution. An advanced compensation technology not only ensures excellent image sharpness even in low light conditions, but the lens also delivers a clear image with an improved Color Contribution Index (CCI).

Rokinon Linear Stepper Motor (STM) provides the high thrust necessary for fast, precise, and quiet AF and tracking, maximizing the benefits of Sony E-mount cameras. Compared to the previous AF 85mm F1.4 FE, the new lens is optimized not only for stills but also for video recording by minimizing vibration and noise. The AF tracks the subject precisely and quickly and works quietly and smoothly during video recording.

The minimum focal length is only 85 cm (2.79 ft), making the lens perfect for flattering portraits, headshots, and full-body shots. It allows for a unique perspective close to the subject, making it easier to capture portraits with exaggerated facial features, food on tables, etc.

The Rokinon AF 85mm F1.4 FE II for Sony E mount cameras is available to pre-order on Bhphotovideo.com at a recommended retail price of $799. The lens will be available from the beginning of August 2022, but it is only available at launch in limited quantities.
