The mighty Asus ROG Zephyrus S17 GX703 has a completely redesigned design that looks much more conventional than its predecessor, thanks to a clever cooling system, the manufacturer packed a mighty GeForce RTX 3080 in a case that is less than two centimeters thick.
While the ROG Zephyrus S17 from last year still had a huge cooling surface above the keyboard, which forced the trackpad to the right of the keyboard, Asus uses a much more conventional design for the new model. The cooling shouldn’t suffer as a result, because the keyboard is angled by 5 degrees when it is opened so that the air circulation can be significantly improved.
Apart from this clever design, Asus also relies on powerful cooling, including liquid metal as a heat conductor. This cooling should also be necessary to cool the high-performance components because the top model relies on the brand new Intel Core i9-11900H and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 with 16 GB GDDR6 graphics memory and a TGP, which with Dynamic Boost to 140 watts comes.
The 17-inch display is 500 nits bright, Pantone-validated, and equipped with a response time of 3 milliseconds. Buyers can choose between a 165 Hz QHD panel and a 120 Hz 4K screen. The manufacturer installs up to 32 GB DDR4-3.200 RAM and up to three PCIe M.2 SSDs. The notebook uses a keyboard with mechanical switches, which are read optically – this leads to a fast response time, but buttons of this type usually don’t feel as one would expect from mechanical keyboards.
The Zephyrus S17 uses six speakers, a 90 Wh battery, one Thunderbolt 4, one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, three USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI 2.0b, Ethernet, AUX, and an SD card reader. Thanks to “3D Noise Reduction”, the webcam promises a low-noise image even in low light.
