Price and availability

Rocket Lake Intel 500 series desktop processors are now available to pre-order on Bhphotovideo.com and Amazon.com online stores at prices starting from $167.

Intel officially presents its 11th generation desktop processors with delivery scheduled to begin towards the end of the month. Due to numerous leaks, most of the technical data is already known.

Intel has pursued a similar strategy as before – the company will offer K-series chips that can be overclocked, F-versions without an integrated graphics chip, and T-models with a TDP of only 35 watts.

Intel has already confirmed that the new Intel processors will support PCIe 4.0 x20, DDR4-3.200 RAM, and existing motherboards with chipsets from the 400 series, although there are a few exceptions. It has also already been confirmed that the fastest chip with eight cores and 16 threads will offer clock frequencies of up to 5.3 GHz on one or 4.8 GHz on all cores – the clock frequencies are therefore identical to those of the Core i9-10900K which is equipped with two more cores.

Intel promises a 19 percent higher performance (IPC) with identical clock frequencies, whereby the company states that not only gaming performance should benefit from the modern Cypress Cove architecture. Intel will offer a whole range of Core i5 chips with six cores and Core i7 and Core i9 processors with eight cores. The prices in the mid-range segment remain largely unchanged.

The Intel Core i7-11700K, on the other hand, is a lot more expensive than its predecessor, while the Core i9-11900K not only has a more expensive list price than the Core i9-10900K – a massive surcharge for a chip that is expected to offer poorer multi-core performance. AMD also offers significantly cheaper options in some cases – the Ryzen 7 5800X, which can be viewed as a direct competitor to the Core i7-11700K, is available on Amazon for as little as $449.
