As expected, Ricoh Imaging introduced a full-frame telephoto zoom lens called HD Pentax-D FA 70-210mm F4 ED SDM WR, preliminary information about which appeared on the eve of the announcement.
The lens is equipped with an image stabilizer and a ring ultrasonic autofocus drive. When changing the focal length and focusing, the dimensions of the lens do not change. The lens is weatherproof and the front element is coated to prevent contamination.
The lens consists of 20 elements in 14 groups, including three elements with ultra-low dispersion (ED) and two elements with anomalous dispersion. It has a minimum focusing distance of 95 cm, an aperture with nine blades, uses a high-resolution (HD) Pentax multi-layer coating on its elements and has a dustproof and waterproof design.
This new telephoto zoom lens is ideal for active field photography in a wide range of outdoor applications including scenic photography, landscape shooting with a beautiful bokeh effect in the fore- and background, close-up photography of animals and plants, and sports and wildlife photography where its outstanding portability really comes in handy. The lens length is 175 mm, the diameter is 78.5 mm, and the weight is 859 g (with the hood). The diameter of the filter thread is 67 mm.
