Red Panda Raster 2 Digital Delay Pedal with Modulation

There is still some news at summer NAMM 2021. The Red Panda Raster 2 delay pedal is the successor to the first version with all sorts of improvements, but at its core remains a digital delay with a lot of cute functions that make it especially interesting for sound tinkerers.

Even if you already have version 1, the Red Panda Grid 2 pedal is probably worth a look. It brings many improvements that put the value of the pedal a step further in terms of flexibility.

New in grid 2 is not only longer delays but also modulation, presets, MIDI, and optional stereo as TRS input. It continues to work digitally, which is why very long delays are possible. 1600ms leave a lot of leeways. In addition, there are pitch and frequency shifters in the feedback signal path – by the way, which can also be increased to infinity from 3 o’clock via self-oscillation. You can choose between a clear, digital delay sound and a darker, analogue sound. The two delay channels can be arranged in series, parallel, or ping pong.

Seven waveforms are available as modulation and can influence delay time, pitch shift, or effect level. Random is also included if you like to give up control and let yourself be surprised.

Your repetitions can be changed up or down using the pitch shifter. Together with the modulation, arpeggiator sounds or interesting tremolos with “chorus” can be created. With a little tinkering, the two delays can also be pitched in different directions.

The controls are relatively simple despite the functional dimensions: controls for a shift, feedback, delay, blend, rate, depth; Push button for preset and wave; Toggle switch for waveforms and repeats. The two soft click foot switches take care of bypass, shift, tap tempo, or trails in latch or momentary mode.

Via MIDI via TRS or USB you can synchronize the clock or control additional parameters that can otherwise only be accessed via the editor in the browser. Presets can also be set more conveniently via the editor.

Red Panda Raster 2 price and availability

You can definitely do a lot with the Red Panda Raster 2 digital delay pedal. Spontaneously, we don’t know where to start. There is so much to discover, especially through the possibilities with modulation and pitch shifting and remote control via MIDI. It is now available to buy at Bhphotovideo.com for $299.
