The market for over-ear headphones is still controlled by hi-fi giants, such as the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 (from $349.99 on Bhphotovideo) or the Bose QuietComfort 35 (from $299 on Amazon), including Apple wants to enter this sector soon, Microsoft is already at the start with the Surface Headphones 2 (from $249.99 on Bestbuy).

Now Razer also wants to fight for the over-ear crown. The Opus relies on a fairly simple design that was completely black. The Razer headset is THX certified, and 40mm drivers are responsible for the sound, which Razer says is perfect for both movies and music. The connection is made either via AUX or Bluetooth, whereby the headphones wirelessly support a whole range of codecs, including aptX, AAC, and HFP. The battery should last up to 25 hours, can be charged via USB-C.

A feature highlight is the Active Noise Cancelling, which is supposed to be able to effectively block out ambient noise with the help of four microphones. A “Quick Attention Mode” can be activated by a button, which amplifies the ambient noise, if you cross a street and don’t want to miss a car. If you remove the headphones, the playback is automatically paused.

The newcomer thus offers almost all the features that you already know from the competition, now only the quality has to convince in practice. The Razer Opus over-ear Active Noise Cancelling headphone can be purchased via the Amazon.com store for $189.99 in Midnight Blue and Classic Black color options.
