With the Barracuda X, Razer has introduced new wireless gamer headphones that should cut a fine figure at home and on the go, when gaming and listening to music, with the PC, or even with the Nintendo Switch – the best headset for gaming as well as for all situations.
When Razer presented the Barracuda X at a press conference, the company was primarily interested in showing that many gaming enthusiasts only use their gaming headphones at home because the design would simply be too flashy on the street. For this reason, Razer has opted for a fairly simple plastic case and a microphone that can be easily removed for its latest gamer headphones.
The plastic not only serves to lower the price, but the weight also benefits from the choice of material – with a weight of 250 grams and ear cushions made of memory foam, the stereo headset should be comfortable even during longer gaming sessions. Razer advertises the Barracuda X as the perfect all-in-one headphone because the USB-C dongle allows the headphones to be wirelessly connected to a Sony PlayStation 5, a PC, an Android device, or even with the Nintendo Switch.
Alternatively, the connection via an AUX cable is also possible, but Razer does without Bluetooth so that no wireless connection to the Apple iPhone or the Xbox Series X | S is possible – a Bluetooth option would have made the Barracuda X even more flexible. After all, the dongle should provide lower latency and a more stable connection via Razer HyperSpeed.
With a USB-A adapter, the dongle also works with older PCs or with a Nintendo Switch in the dock. Razer TriForce drivers with a diameter of 40 millimeters should ensure a decent sound. The volume can be regulated or the microphone can be muted using controls on the headset for PC.
