A few facts: The Rane one DJ controller is built like a tank, no question about it. With a live weight of almost 11 kg, a full metal case, and a size of 674 x 345 x 124 mm, a truly impressive appearance, yet somehow transportable. Mixing takes place on two channels. The motorized 7.2-inch turntables have high/low torque settings and traditional start/stop buttons in the style of a turntable.

In addition, there are multifunctional RGB performance pads on the Rane controller for hot cues, saved loops, roll, sampler, slicer, and Serato scratch bank. There is also a loop department, sync, shift, parameter buttons, and key lock as well as pitch bends. The Rane DJ controller has long pitch faders for manual tempo adjustment. Navigation elements and search strips are also on board.

The central mixed field is very reminiscent of the RANE Sixty / Seventy consoles. This is where the new MAG FOUR faders come into play. Contour controls are installed for cross and line faders, as well as reverse switches. In addition to a three-band tone control and combination filter, RANE has also accommodated two large effect levers. Six FX buttons provide access to Serato FX, controllable via Depth, Beat and Tap.

There are professional XLR outputs for the PA and monitor system, the master can also be tapped in cinch format.

Rane One DJ controller price and availability

The recommended retail price is $1,499 on the Bhphotovideo.com website and should be available from April 2, 2021. Despite the not inconsiderable price, the controller should not only represent an alternative to the flagship lineup for RANE newbies but also be interesting as a mobile setup for owners of those devices. In any case, the first impression is promising. We are curious to see how the controller performs in practice. Here are a few videos.

Recently, Pioneer USA has also brought a new DJ controller called the Pioneer DDJ FLX6 with some interesting new functions up its sleeve for DJs who play the cross-genre or who rely on live remixing and mashup in their sets.
