MSI Raider 18 HX AI and Raider A18 HX gaming laptops, introduced at CES 2025, are now available for pre-order in the US and UK. They feature 4K+ Mini-LED 120Hz displays with 1,000 nits, GeForce RTX 5090, Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX or AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, Thunderbolt 5, WiFi 7, and PCIe Gen5.
The AMD A18 HX model mainly uses the exciting Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor. Up to 96 GB DDR5-6400 RAM can be installed, and up to two SSDs, one in the PCIe 5.0 standard and one connected to PCIe 4.0. Instead of Thunderbolt 5, the AMD model has USB4. The exact TGP of the RTX 5090 or optional RTX 5080 remains unknown, but each will likely run at maximum, justifying the 400W power supply. The cooling system can handle up to 260W, likely distributing 175W to the GPU and 85W to the CPU.
Both models feature a 4K+ mini-LED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and HDR1000, meaning the maximum 1,000 nits applies to peak brightness in HDR mode. Unlike the MSI Titan 18 HX, they do not include mechanical keyboards. However, they do offer single-key RGB lighting and a six-speaker system. The 18-inch laptops also weigh a whopping 3.6 kg.
