QNAP offers a new hybrid storage solution with the TS-1655. The Hybrid NAS storage system should be highly adaptable to your own needs and can also run virtual machines and containers.
QNAP is also known as a provider of network storage for private users but primarily serves professional users with the TS-1655. The model is a hybrid storage solution that, in combination with cloud storage, is intended to ensure low latency for data access.
The QNAP TS-1655 is equipped with an Intel Atom C5125 processor that consists of eight individual cores and has a clock frequency of 2.8 GHz. The TS-1655-8G model comes with eight gigabytes of DDR4 memory and can support a maximum of four memory modules, totaling 32 gigabytes of memory. Additionally, ECC memory is supported.
It has twelve 3.5-inch drive bays and four 2.5-inch bays. Additionally, it features two M.2 2280 ports that are each connected through two PCIe Gen 3 lanes. The device also comes with two Ethernet ports that have a maximum data transmission rate of 2.5 GBit/s. However, a 10 or 25 GBit/s connection can also be retrofitted via a PCIe expansion card.
A total of four PCIe slots are available, each connected via four PCIe 3.0 lanes. It is possible to install a Coral M.2 accelerator card – this is said to offer AI acceleration for faster image recognition.
The storage system is said to achieve a sequential reading rate of up to 3,499 MB/s connected via two 25 GBit/s Ethernet connections, and the writing data rate is said to reach up to 2,465 MB/s. The range of functions is extensive, so complete PCs and Macs can be backed up, and virtual machines and containers can also be run. Authorizations can be defined and IP cameras can also be controlled.

The hybrid storage system is already available for pre-order on Amazon.com and Bhphotovideo.com online stores for $1,849 and will be released on March 02, 2023.
