QNAP introduces QMiroPlus-201W Mini NAS with WAN Router and Wi-Fi 5 Mesh System

QNAP has announced a new product – a hybrid device QMiroPlus-201W, combining the functions of a WAN router, Wi-Fi hotspots with a wireless mesh network, and network-attached storage (NAS). Dimensions of the new mesh system are 183.5 × 105 × 143.5 mm and weigh 1.44 kg.

The new best mesh router system carries onboard a Qualcomm IPQ4019 chip with four ARM Cortex-A7 processing cores, which is complemented by 4 GB of eMMC flash memory and 512 MB of DDR3. This chip also supports Wi-Fi 5 AC2200 (802.11a / b / g / n / ac 2 × 2) – up to 400 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band and up to 1733 Mbps in the 5 GHz band – and has a built-in 1GbE switch with five ports, one of which is used for internal connection to the NAS part of the device.

The main computational load from the NAS component is assigned to the Intel Celeron J4125 processor. The chip belongs to the Gemini Lake Refresh generation: it contains four cores with a base clock speed of 2.0 GHz and an upgradeable up to 2.7 GHz. The processor works in tandem with 4GB of DDR4 RAM. It is possible to install two 2.5-inch drives with a SATA 3.0 interface.

The NAS part has its own, independent 2.5GbE port, routed to the rear wall. There are also four 1GbE ports (one WAN and four LANs) belonging to the mesh router, and two USB 3.2 Gen1 ports for connecting external devices. In addition, Bluetooth 5.0 is supported, as well as the ability to mesh the QMiroPlus-201W and three other QNAP QMiro mesh routers.

The NAS part runs QTS and the SD-WAN router runs QuRouter OS. This hybrid solution allows you to leverage SD-WAN connectivity to gain access to corporate network resources, including other NAS. And with the help of QTS, it is possible to organize backup both to the cloud and to the company’s storage.

Price and availability

QNAP QMiroPlus-201W Tri-Band wireless mesh network SD-WAN Router with Home Cloud solution 2.0 is now available to buy at Amazon.com for $499.

Recently, QNAP has brought new TS-x73A series network storage devices based on AMD processors. New QNAP NAS drives come with up to 64 gigabytes of RAM, two 2.5 Gbit/s Ethernet, PCIe 3.0, and priced at $779.
