QNAP unveils three Expansion Cards with 10GbE ports and M.2 2280 SSD slots

QNAP Systems introduced QM2-2P410G1T, QM2-2P410G2T, and QM2-2P10G1TB expansion cards. The first two are PCIe Gen 4, and the third is Gen 3 PCIe card. They allow you to equip your PC, server, or network-attached storage (NAS) with one or two 10GbE ports and two M.2 slots for NVMe-enabled SSDs.

With this expansion card, NAS users can improve overall storage performance by enabling SSD caching and increasing storage capacity without taking up storage bays. PC, server, and workstation users can increase storage capacity and improve overall performance by moving resource-intensive tasks to SSDs to minimize application load times.

The QNAP QM2-2P410G2T expansion card is equipped with two 10GBASE-T Multi-Gigabit (10G/5G/2.5G/1G/100M) ports, the other two expansion cards have one such port each. In all cases, the design includes an active cooling system designed to ensure reliable and long-term operation of the SSD and network port. Drive replacement is done without the use of tools.

M.2 SSD thermal sensors allow real-time temperature monitoring, with a quiet cooling module (heatsink and smart fan) to keep the SSDs running within optimal temperatures. A tool-less design also enables quick M.2 SSD installation and replacement.

Expansion cards prices and availability

Recently, the QNAP systems catalog has been expanded with the new QSW-M5216-1T managed network switch. Its configuration includes 16 25GbE (SFP28) ports and one 10GbE (RJ45) port. In addition, there is a 1GbE port for managing the switch, a combined switching capacity of 820Gbps, and a non-blocking throughput of 410 Gbps. All 25Gb/s SFP28 ports are backward compatible with 10Gb/s SFP+ network cards and is priced at $1,385.
