Airpeak S1: Sony’s new Professional Drone can lift Professional Cameras into Air

After the Airipeak S1 was briefly shown at the CES 2021 in January, the company has finally officially presented the professional drone. The AirPeak S1 can carry comparatively large loads and float calmly in the air even in strong winds.

The Sony Airpeak S1 flying camera drone has been announced officially via press release. This is a slightly larger flying camera drone that can transport a professional camera, so that you can record videos in 8K resolution with any lens using the Sony A1 camera, for example.

While the drone camera is controlled with remote control, a live image from the camera can be transmitted using the Airpeak Flight app, and the camera settings can also be changed via the app. A special version of the Gremsy T3 gimbal also stabilizes the camera, but this is sold separately. The camera drone’s battery lasts about 12 minutes, without a camera connected 22 minutes of flight time are possible.

One of the biggest advantages of the Airpeak S1 quadcopter drone over many smaller drones is that it can also be used in strong winds. As can be seen in the video embedded below, wind speeds of up to 20 meters per second should not be a problem for the Airpeak S1. The Sony drone offers a maximum speed of 90 km / h, acceleration from 0 to 80 km / h should be possible in just 3.5 seconds – this value was determined without a camera installed.

Sony Airpeak S1 price and availability

The Sony Airpeak S1 Professional Drone will be available from September 2021 for around $9,000, but it is already listed on the Bhphotovideo.com online store without any pricing and availability details. The gimbal or the camera are not included in this price, but the manufacturer supplies at least a replacement propeller and the remote control with two batteries and a charger.

Recently, DJI has announced the new high-speed FPV Drone designed for first-person control, it knows how to shoot video in high definition and is capable of accelerating to hundreds in a matter of seconds.
