Dell Precision 3580: A Mobile Workstation for Professionals

Dell has recently introduced the Precision 3580 mobile workstation, which comes with the latest Intel Raptor Lake processors and an NVIDIA RTX Ada Generation GPU. These laptops also have a range of connectivity options, including Thunderbolt 4 ports, FHD webcams with optional IR sensors for facial recognition, and more.

While the Precision 3580 laptop boasts virtually the same internal hardware as the Precision 3480, there are some differences between the two models. For example, the former comes with faster solid-state drives for higher-end models and a larger 15.6-inch screen.

With a 15.6-inch screen, the Precision 3580 is a sturdy entry-level workstation that delivers an impressive display. All models feature 400 cd/m² bright super low power displays with 100% sRGB in Full HD resolution, and it’s equipped with U and P series processors ranging from a Core i5-1335U to a 14-core i7-1370P. Additionally, the laptop can support up to 64 GB DDR5-4800 RAM in two memory banks and up to 2 TB SSD memory, optionally in the M.2-2280 format.

Although the Precision 3580 is smaller and somewhat heavier than the Precision 3480, it packs a maximum of 54 Wh battery and an RTX A500 GPU. The laptop is also equipped with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI 2.0, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, RJ-45, a microSD card reader, an audio port, and an optional smart card reader, as well as a nanoSIM slot for WWAN models. Charging is via USB-C with 65 W (iGPU models) or 100 W / 130 W for Nvidia models, and Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 are also available. Finally, users have the option of running either Ubuntu Linux 22.04 LTS or Windows 11 on all Dell laptops.
