Polaroid Now+ Instant Camera offers numerous features with Smartphone app

Polaroid has launched a new Plus variant of the Polaroid Now instant camera that offers a variety of features, but most of them are dependent on a smartphone app. In return, users are given manual control over the aperture, as well as the option of taking double exposures or long exposures.

The latest Polaroid Now instant camera offers suspiciously few buttons, apart from the power button, the shutter release, and a speed dial button for a few functions, most of the functions are controlled via the associated smartphone app. As a result, the camera can come up with many features that are rarely found in instant cameras, including the ability to control the aperture yourself, even if only between f/11 and f/32.

The manual mode also allows you to set the shutter speed and manually eject the photo so that practically any number of exposures can be combined. Anyone who controls the exposure manually receives feedback via the app on whether the image is overexposed or underexposed. Dedicated modes in the app can be used to control double exposures and long exposures.

The sample photos embedded below show what is possible with these modes. Polaroid provides five filters that can be screwed in front of the lens, for example, to get a red vignette or star-shaped bokeh. The Polaroid Now+ supports autofocus, the battery can be charged via USB.

Polaroid Now+ price and availability

The Polaroid Now+ instant camera can now be pre-ordered from the Amazon.com website for $149.99 in Black, White and Blue colors. A bundle with three packs of film with eight photos each costs $194.99, a single film pack costs around $25.

Earlier this year, Fujifilm has also introduced the Instax Mini 40 Instant Film Camera. The main feature of the mini Instax Fujifilm camera is the original body made in retro style. There is a small mirror for taking self-portraits; in addition, a continuously firing flash with automatic brightness control is provided.
