The upgrade that brought the PlayStation 4 to firmware version 5.00 was released about a week ago, has caused some problems and some users have reported on the various forums that there is an error with the E-801809A8 code. Basically, it prevents you downloading and installing the new system update properly.
The causes of the problem are not yet clear, but the error appears to be due to a malfunction of the Blu-ray player.
However, the development team is already working to resolve the situation and, a few hours ago, a Sony customer service representative responding to a user confirmed that the patch intended to resolve the issue should arrive shortly, most likely between the end of this week or the beginning of next week.
We remind you that the new update has introduced new options and features, but some are reserved exclusively for PlayStation 4 Pro and Playstation VR.
For example, on Sony’s enhanced console, users can stream 1080p video directly to Twitch at 60fps while Playstation VR owners during the broadcasts can finally view messages and commentaries in both movie mode and VR mode, interacting with others directly from the headset.
