Pioneer HDJ-CUE1 DJ Audio Headphones with Swappable Earpads and Cables

It’s been a while since Pioneer DJ introduced us to new DJ headphones. With the HDJ-CUE1 BT, the manufacturer is now presenting a new near-ear sounder into the ring that wants to fight for a regular place on your head and in the pulpit. These audio headphones are not only in reference to DJs, for party, outdoor and club use, but also as a companion for listening to music in everyday life. As a result, a certain style factor should not disappear and Bluetooth certainly should not disappear either.

Pioneer HDJ-CUE1 DJ Audio Headphones

Pioneer HDJ-CUE1 Bluetooth headphones with microphone are aimed at “style-conscious” canned and live music fans, music enthusiasts, and sound performers who value rich sound and solid DJ properties and who value an individual look. It is available in different colors, there are also packages with additional colored earpads and cables. HDJ-CUE1 BT sees itself as audiophile headphones for the “ideal introduction to DJing.”

The new Pioneer headphones are based on the dynamic convertible principle with an adjustable ear cups that can turn a full 90 degrees, lets you fold for transport easily. It features a frequency range of 5 Hz – 30 kHz and has a nominal sensitivity of 104 dB at a maximum input power of 2000 mW. The impedance is 32 ohms, and Bluetooth version 5.0 is also included. The integrated battery should last up to 20 hours and be refilled after 2.5 hours.

The same 40 mm drivers are installed in the HDJ-CUE1 BT model as in the HDJ-X5BT (priced at $149 on Amazon), which is supposed to optimally reproduce particularly low frequencies from bass and kick drums and allows all possible forms of listening positions with its swivel mechanism. The 1.2 m long spiral cable is removable. A bayonet connection ensures that the cable sits where it should in the heat of the moment.

The padded headband ensures that the 215-gram headphones are comfortable to wear and, like many of its colleagues, the HDJ-CUE1 also had to overcome the much-cited “stress test”.

Price and availability

And what do the audio headphones cost? Pioneer DJ calls for $99 for the HDJ-CUE1 BT, and it can be pre-ordered via the Bhphotovideo.com store. You can also buy the ear pads and cables in various colors is a great thing, because at some point the pads are worn out and I’ve been annoyed several times when there were no replacement models.

Pioneer would like to emphasize the style aspect and therefore not only the headphones are available in Matte Black, Matte White, and Matte Red, but the replacement packages, named HC-CP08, are offered in Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Pink. They cost $29.99, and also available to pre-order at Bhphotovideo.com store, consisting of 2x ear pads and a cable.

Earlier this year at NAMM 2020, Pioneer has introduced the new 6-channel Professional DJ Mixer DJM-V10 comes with a new design, a number of new features and, a powerful price tag.
