Chinese cheap cine zoom lens manufacturer 7Artisans has launched its first advanced photoelectric lens (previously available on Kickstarter): the 7Artisans 24-96mm T2.9 for Super35 cameras. It will provide a 35-150mm equivalent focal length range with a constant T2.9 aperture and 4x zoom with a parfocal design.
According to the manufacturer, the new photoelectric model has almost eliminated the issue of “focus breathing.” At the same time, its design provides sharpness across the entire frame and precise, stable manual focusing.
Thus, a photoelectric lens is suitable for shooting music videos, short films, documentaries, and even full-length films with a moderate budget. The manufacturer specifies that the lens is appropriate for shooting most scenes (probably except those requiring an ultra-wide angle of view).
The photoelectric unit has an optical design with 21 elements in 16 groups and a 13-blade aperture for bokeh effect. Focus, aperture, and zoom are manually controlled with three dedicated rings, which work with follow-focus systems for added convenience.
You can close the aperture down to T22 throughout the focal length range. The diagonal angle of view is 66 to 18 degrees when zooming from 24mm to 96mm, respectively.
The aperture ring has a 90-degree rotation, and the focus ring has 240 degrees. The zoom ring rotates 100 degrees from 24 to 96 mm. The minimum focusing distance of the new photoelectric lens is one meter.
The new 7Artisans 24-96mm T2.9 cinema lens looks stylish and has a durable metal body. The length of the optics is 225 mm, and the weight is 2.3 kg. You can install filters with an 86 mm thread.

The Cinema Zoom lens works seamlessly with a custom adapter ring, making it compatible with a variety of popular camera systems. These include Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon RF, and L-Mount (Sigma, Leica, Panasonic, and DJI). However, only the PL version is compatible with the mount adapter, while the EF-mount version remains compatible exclusively with EF-mount cameras.
