Philips PUS8602: 55″ and 65″ Ultra HD Android TV with Quantum Dot

Philips will unveil its first UHD television with Quantum Dot technology at IFA 2017 event in Berlin will take place on September 1 to 6. There will be two new models: 55-inch (55PUS8602) and 65-inch (65PUS8602) in Philips PUS8602 TV series.

Philips UHD 4K TVs uses Edge LED backlight in combination with a Quantum Dot LC layer. The display with 3.860 x 2.160 pixels in a 16:9 aspect ratio quite similar to Samsung’s QLED TV. The maximum brightness is up to 700 nits and is powered by new P5 processor with four cores and features like Perfect Natural Motion, Ultra Resolution, and Miro Dimming Pro to give the Quantum Dot display impressive color and details

Leaked specifications show the presence of the Ambilight 3 (top, right and left) and the DVB-T2 and DVB-S2 tuners. There is also HDR10 and HLG support, and Android TV platform. Philips 8602 models have a built-in soundbar system under the display. The “double-ring soundbar” with 50-watt speakers which deliver a balanced and powerful sound experience.

Complete with the remote controls now enables voice controls, Netflix button and full QWERTY keyboard. More details will come from Berlin in next few days. Some European stores have listed Philips PUS8602 TVs: the 55″ (55PUS8602) is offered at EUR 1,799, while the 65″ (65PUS8602) for EUR 3,199. Obviously, we look forward to official confirmation for US prices.
