The Philips Evnia 49M2C8900 gaming screen, which was released at the end of last year, has a sister model that appears to be almost identical apart from the maximum refresh rate, the contrast ratio, and the ClearMR certification (8000 instead of 13 000). The new Philips Evnia 49M2C8900L also has a 48.9-inch QD-OLED panel with DQHD resolution (5120 x 1440 pixels, 32:9) but only achieves up to 144 instead of 240 Hz. The contrast ratio is also 1 000 000:1 instead of 1 500 000:1.

As with the non-L version, 10-bit color depth, 0.03 ms response time (gray to gray), 153.1% sRGB, 125.2% Adobe RGB, 99% DCI-P3, and a Delta-E value of less than 2 are promised. The brightness remains unchanged at 250 cd/m² (SDR, 100 percent APL), 450 cd/m² ( HDR, 10 percent APL), or 1000 cd/m² (HDR, 3 percent APL).
DisplayHDR True Black 400, three-sided Ambiglow, and an 1800-R curvature are also among the features. Two internal 7.5-watt speakers and two 7.5-watt subwoofers provide sound and support DTS. FreeSync Premium Pro and presumably G-Sync-compatible Adaptive Sync should ensure tearing-free gaming.
The KVM switch lets you control two devices with the same mouse and keyboard, eliminating the need to swap cables. It also supports picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture modes, ensuring seamless multitasking.
The interface selection includes two HDMI 2.1 inputs, a DisplayPort 1.4, a USB 3.2 hub (Gen 1), a headphone output, and USB-C with DisplayPort alternate mode and 90-watt PD.
Price and availability
It is already available on Amazon.co.uk for £869.99, while the non-L model with 240 Hz is currently available at £1,170.70. A remote control is included in the delivery.
According to the specs, however, DQHD at 144 Hz is only possible on the DisplayPorts, while you have to make do with 60 Hz on HDMI. This suggests that these are not full-fledged HDMI 2.1 ports – the sibling 49M2C8900 can handle DQHD at 240 Hz on its HDMI ports.

The Philips Evnia 49M2C8900L 144 Hz gaming PC monitor offers tilt, rotation, and height adjustment. It features blue light filtering, VESA mounting (100 x 100 mm), and weighs 10.82 kg without the stand.
