With the 243S1, Philips is targeting customers who are looking for a display that can be used productively and is well equipped. In terms of pure display properties, however, the full HD monitor is not in the high-end range.

The Philips monitor has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The manufacturer puts the contrast ratio at 1000:1 and the response time at 4 ms. The brightness is comparatively low at 250 cd/m². The USB C monitor should cover 91 percent of the NTSC color space and 107 percent of the sRGB color space.

Mounting on a wall bracket or another stand is possible thanks to the VESA mount. The housing frame, which is thin on three sides, is intended to simplify the implementation of multi-monitor setups. The Philips 243S1 receives image signals via HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2, or USB Type C 3.2 Gen 2. The device can be used not only as a monitor via the USB Type C port but also as a dock.

Specifically, a connected notebook or mini PC can be supplied with a power of up to 65 watts. Additional peripheral devices and mass storage devices can be connected to the four USB Type-A ports. The display also offers a DisplayPort output, which can be used to connect another display. A Gigabit Ethernet port is built-in and is available to connected devices. Since the display can be tilted, swiveled, and adjusted in height, even long working days should be easy to master.
