Panasonic Lumix S 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 MACRO O.I.S. Telephoto Zoom Lens for L Mount

With the Lumix S 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 MACRO O.I.S. (S-R70300), Panasonic presents a new telephoto zoom lens with an extremely variable focal length that offers excellent image quality for impressive photos and videos. It expands the L-Mount-System 1 with another lens for mirrorless Lumix S full-frame cameras.

In this new telephoto zoom, the dual stabilization system (Dual IS) combines the OIS (optical image stabilizer) of the lens with the stabilizer in the cameras of the LUMIX S series and this lens features advanced image stabilization that powerfully corrects shake in telephoto shooting and enables shooting at slower shutter speeds. The focus control with a maximum of 480 fps high-speed sensor drive realizes fast, high-precision autofocus.

With an outstanding minimum focusing distance of 0.54m or 0.74m 3, the LUMIX S 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 MACRO OIS achieves a maximum magnification of 0.5x (at 300mm) and thus enable macro photography and videography in half life-size. The rounded aperture with its 11 slats ensures a particularly attractive bokeh over the entire zoom range.

Nevertheless, the telephoto zoom macro lens is compact and light, which enables comfortable mobility. The robust, dust and splash-proof construction also withstand use under rough conditions, even at -10° C. The fluorine coating on the front element is also water and oil repellent. The filter diameter is 77 mm.

Due to the optimal arrangement of 17 elements in 11 groups with a UED lens (Ultra Extra-low Dispersion), two ED lenses (Extra-low Dispersion), and a UHR lens (Ultra-High Refractive Index), both axial chromatic aberration at the telephoto end as well as a chromatic aberration of the enlargement with shorter focal lengths effectively suppressed. The UHR lens in particular achieves uniform image quality from the center to the edges of the image and at the same time contributes to the compact size of the lens.

All LUMIX S series lenses feature a mechanism for video recordings that minimizes focus breathing for videographers – a phenomenon that occurs when using interchangeable lenses, which are primarily designed for creating still images. Also, the focus shift is suppressed when zooming, so that the subject remains in focus and better video recordings are possible.
