Along with Panasonic GX8 and FZ300, Panasonic also informed of the development of two new lenses called Lumix G 25mm/F1.7 and Leica DG 100-400mm / F4-6.3.
Both Panasonic lenses will be developed with a new Panasonic’s high-speed autofocus technology, and quality is also controlled by Leica. In addition, Panasonic also announced the new advance “Post-Focus” technology for LUMIX Cameras as recently rumored.
The Leica DG 100-400mm F4-6.3 lens when mounted on Micro Four Thirds camera will give a focal length of 200-800mm on a full-frame sensor. Panasonic said it is also the first Leica lens with the DG label design and production under the supervision of Leica. Meanwhile the Lumix G 25mm/F1.7 lens adds wide-angle focal length of the lens for Panasonic, and solve problems in low light shooting.
Both lenses come with high-precision AF (Auto Focus) with DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology and speeds of 240fps. The company also did not forget to equip optical stabilization system with dust and waterproof lens for use in harsh environments. Panasonic also adds that the Micro Four Thirds advantage of reduced size and weight allows handheld 800mm (35mm camera equivalent) telephoto shooting without using a tripod.
Besides the two new lenses, Panasonic also introduces new features called “Post Focus”. The new Post Focus technology will work in conjunction with the capabilities of Panasonic’s high-speed, high-precision DFD (Depth From Defocus) autofocus technology, and 4K Photo mode, which allows 4K Burst shooting for up to 30 frames per second continuously for up to 30 minutes. Previously we had heard the news about to Panasonic would enter the digital camera market (Light Field Camera) as Lytro, however, this time Panasonic did not create a light field camera that uses High speed imaging technology.
Panasonic said that they will introduce this Post Focus feature for the first time via a firmware update for the LUMIX GX8, DMC-FZ300 and other selected models in late 2015 to early 2016. At the moment the official release date of these two lenses and a firmware update has not been announced.
