Bowers & Wilkins Px8 launch as B&W’s most expensive Bluetooth headphones with 24-bit sound

The British hi-fi specialist Bowers & Wilkins has presented its most expensive headphones, which it claims are also the best. The Px8 over the ear wireless headphones should convince customers above all with a first-class sound, in addition to excellent wearing comfort and long battery life.

When the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 (approx. $400 on Amazon) was announced, B&W already confirmed that an even higher-quality model would soon be coming onto the market. Now the time has come: The Bowers & Wilkins Px8 is official and looks very similar to the Px7 S2. According to Bowers & Wilkins, these are the best over ear wireless headphones the company has ever made.

It is mainly due to the newly developed 43.6-millimeter driver with carbon fiber membrane, which in combination with new magnets, a revised voice coil, and bead should enable a particularly precise, realistic sound. The onboard DSP can handle 24-bit audio, not only when connected via the included AUX and USB-C cables, but also wirelessly via Bluetooth, with B&W using aptX Adaptive, alongside AAC and SBC, though neither will aptX Lossless still support LC3.

The Px8 is said to be able to reproduce frequencies from 10 Hz to 30 kHz with a distortion of less than 0.3 percent (THD at 1 kHz / 10 mW). B&W uses a combination of leather and aluminum for the 310-gram case. The battery lasts 30 hours with noise cancellation enabled. The ANC was taken directly from the Px7 S2, with two of the six microphones also allowing use as a headset.
