OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro Specs

The OnePlus 9 differs noticeably from the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 8 in terms of design – the vertical camera has been replaced with a block shifted to the left, similar to some Honor and Samsung models. The OnePlus 9 has a curved display with a metal frame, while the OnePlus 9 has a flat-screen with a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer frame. The coating on it creates a feeling of metal, but this is just a feeling, not real metal.

The younger model has a 6.55-inch AMOLED flat screen with Full HD+ resolution with a frame rate of 120 Hz. The older model has a screen not only larger (6.7 inches), but also with a higher QHD+ resolution. This panel is manufactured using LTPO technology and supports frame rate adjustment in the range from 1 Hz to 120 Hz. Both smartphones support HDR10+.

Both OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro are based on SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The volume of LPDDR5 RAM – 8 or 12 GB, UFS 3.1 flash memory – 128 or 256 GB.

The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro support dual SIM, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and Wi-Fi 6, and are equipped with stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. The operating system is Android 11 with OxygenOS 11. The smartphones are backed by a two-year warranty and will receive two major Android updates (Android 12 and Android 13) and three years of security updates.

Both models are equipped with 4500 mAh batteries with support for Warp Charge 65T fast charging with a capacity of 65 W. The real surprise was the support for wireless charging in the basic OnePlus 9 (in the European and US versions) – according to rumors, such a system should have been only in the OnePlus 9 Pro. The wireless charging power of the OnePlus 9 is 15W, the OnePlus 9 Pro is 50W.

And now about the cameras: in comparison with their predecessors, they have become better. Needless to say, the OnePlus 9 Pro has the best set of sensors and lenses.

The main module of the main camera of this model is represented by a Sony IMX789 sensor with a resolution of 48 megapixels and an F/1.8 aperture lens with optical stabilization. This module can capture images in RAW format with 12-bit color representation and record 4K video at 120 fps or 8K at 30 fps.

The second module is represented by a Sony IMX766 sensor with a resolution of 50 MP optical format 1/1.56 inches and an ultra-wide-angle FreeForm lens – photos were taken with it should do without distortion at the edges of the frame. Unusually, the same module is responsible for shooting in macro mode. True, the focusing distance is too big here – 4 cm.

There is no periscope module, but there is an 8MP sensor with a telephoto lens providing 3.3x optical zoom and 30x hybrid zoom. Of course, this module provides optical stabilization. And finally, the fourth module is a 2-megapixel monochrome camera, which, in conjunction with the main module, allows you to take high-quality black-and-white photos.

The camera app also came with some innovations. For example, there is a Hasselblad Pro mode that mirrors the Hasselblad camera interface. There is also a special Nightscape night mode.

The OnePlus 9’s camera is simpler. The module with optical zoom is excluded from the design, and instead of the newest Sony IMX789 sensor, a simpler module is used – Sony IMX689, – but also 48-megapixel, with support for 12 bit RAW and optical stabilization. But this camera no longer supports 4K video recording at 120 fps, the maximum is 60 fps. As for the front cameras, both use 16MP HDR-capable sensors.
