The company is positioning the new camera as durable, lightweight, and versatile — it could be the go-to tool for travel photographers. The manufacturer especially emphasizes the presence of protection against dust and splashes according to the IP53 rating, in addition, the camera has a built-in supersonic wave filter. This filter is designed to prevent dust and other particles from getting on the matrix (including when changing optics).

OM System OM-5 comes with 5-axis image stabilization combined with an optically stabilized lens, providing a total effect with compensation of up to 7.5EV stops.

The camera has a 121-point phase-detection autofocus with cross-type sensors. The manufacturer claims that the OM System OM-5 camera processor is capable of processing images while maintaining smooth natural transitions with minimal digital noise, even at fairly high ISOs.

OM System OM-5 received both an electronic and a mechanical shutter: the camera is capable of shooting at shutter speeds from 1/8000 second to 60 seconds. It is powered by a BLS-50 battery and USB charging is also available.

The camera supports shooting mode with a high resolution of up to 50 megapixels. In this mode, the camera combines several images into one. The camera also received the function of simulating a Live Neutral Density filter up to ND16 to ensure long exposures in bright light.

Also, the OM System OM-5 received the function of in-camera focus stacking and Starry Sky autofocus for those who like to shoot the starry sky.

There is a Pro Capture function that starts recording after half-pressing the shutter button. In this mode, you can capture up to 14 consecutive frames.

The press release also states that the camera has features such as Live Composite, Live Bulb, Time Lapse, Focus Bracketing, HDR Creation, Color Creator, Art Filter, and Fisheye Simulation.

OM Digital hasn’t forgotten about video capabilities. The manufacturer has focused on shooting 4K video handheld at up to 30 fps, both in Cinema 4K and in standard 4K, and this is without any recording restrictions. The only limitation is the amount on the user’s memory card and the battery charge.

OM System OM-5 has smooth autofocus (according to the manufacturer). The camera can record video in OM-Log for subsequent color correction. Video can be recorded in ALL-I with a bit rate of 202 Mbps.

There is also a mode that beauty bloggers will appreciate – vertical video. The footage can be immediately published on a social network that supports this format.
