The Olympus lens is based on the Micro Four Thirds system standard and has an integrated 5-axis sync image stabilizer with motion compensation of 8 EV levels (according to the CIPA standard). It allows handheld super-telephoto recordings in many critical situations. The lens can also be used in combination with the optional 2-way teleconverter MC-20 and then offers a focal length of up to 2000 mm in relation to small images.

The M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm f/4.5 TC1.25X IS PRO has a close focus limit of 1.3 m, which can be used over the entire zoom range, and the possibility of close-ups with a maximum image magnification of 0.57x offers. With the built-in teleconverter, tele macro recordings are even possible with 0.71x image magnification.

The lens construction consists of 28 elements in 18 groups, including a newly developed extra-low dispersion aspherical lens with a large diameter and four super-extra-low dispersion lenses, which are combined with the Z Coating developed by Olympus Nano coating ensures sharp and clear images even in difficult recording environments, such as with backlight.

The lens housing is made of a magnesium-aluminum alloy. The lens hood is made of lightweight carbon fiber and prevents the lens’ center of gravity from shifting towards the end when the lens hood is used. The compact and light construction results in a length of only 314.3 mm and a weight of 1,875 grams.

The lens, like the OM-D E-M1X camera, is dust and splash-proof, and frost-proof. Compared to the black coating on conventional lenses, the bright, heat-resistant coating on this model reflects the infrared rays of sunlight and prevents the temperature inside the lens from rising in hot weather. The front element of the lens is provided with a fluorine coating, which offers a smooth and scratch-resistant surface and makes cleaning easier.
