A new variant of the mid-range Nokia 5 smartphone with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage has gone official in India, hinting that the company intends to further improve its mid-range offering as it fights back with the Xiaomi mobiles for a slice of the mid-range Android smartphone market.
Prior to the availability of this new Nokia 5 3GB RAM variant, the handset’s configuration topped-out at 4GB of RAM. It wasn’t immediately clear if Nokia plans to launch this new variant outside of Indian market. For instance, the Nokia 5 3GB RAM model is now top mid-range device from the company.
The Nokia 5 3GB RAM variant has been priced at Rs. 13,499 – approximately $208 and will be available from Flipkart store starting today midnight. The device comes in Matte Black and Tempered Blue color options.
To recall its specifications; Nokia 5 running Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box (upgradable to Android 8.0 Oreo); a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with HD (720×1280 pixels) resolution; powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC; 3GB of RAM, 16GB of inbuilt storage with microSD card support up to 128GB.
On the camera front, the Nokia 5 flaunts a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, 1.12-micron pixels, and dual-tone flash. It has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with autofocus, an 84-degree field of view lens, f/2.0 aperture, and 1.12-micron pixels. It measures 149.7 x 72.5 x 8.05 mm and supports LTE Cat. 4; a 3000mAh non-removable battery; Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, A-GPS, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, Micro-USB 2.0 and 3.5mm jack options.
