NiSi Optics has announced its 15mm f4 Sunstar wide angle lens for full-frame L-mount cameras. This lens was first released in January with Canon RF, Nikon Z, Fujifilm X, and Sony E mount.
The optical design of this all-handheld metal construction lens consists of 12 elements in 10 groups, including one double-sided aspherical element and two extra-low dispersion elements. A 9-blade aperture that can range from f/4 to f/22 transforms point lights in the frame into characteristic stars, which is reflected in the name of the product.
The NiSi 15mm f4 Sunstar has a minimum focal distance is 0.2m which creates stunning visual impact for close-up foreground subjects and looks great including a light source creating a Sunstar.
The compact form factor design supports standard 72mm circular filters and 100mm filter holder systems. This allows you to shoot while experimenting and enjoying the use of filters with ease using a compact system with a lens with a 112 Degree field of view.
The Super-wide prime is designed for full-frame Lecia L-mount mirrorless cameras but can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 22mm equivalent focal length.
The field of view when mounted on full-frame cameras is 112°. The minimum focusing distance is 20 cm. The lens is designed for 72 mm filters. Its largest diameter is 75.6 mm, length – 80.5 mm, weight – 470 g.
