Nikon launches AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED Lens, Priced at $2196

Nikon has officially launched the AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED Lens, which company claims to be a world’s first full-frame 105mm with an f/1.4 aperture. Unique feature of this lens is an electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism that can provide highly accurate electronic diaphragm or aperture blade control when using auto exposure during continuous shooting. AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED

With 94.5 x 106 mm size (diameter x length), AF-S 105mm f/1.4E ED still shorter than the 105mm f/2.8 ED macro (length 116mm). However, an aperture range of f/1.4 makes the overall diameter of the lens longer than the Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L USM II (91.5mm), and 82mm filters is common for the high-quality lens have larger f/2.8 aperture.

Nikon has eliminated gear system and uses Silent Wave Motor (SWM) that produces fast, smooth, and quiet autofocus capabilities, along with the ability to manually override focus at any time for more selective control. Additionally, a switch on the lens barrel that permits rapid changing from auto to manual focus.

The design of the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED Lens quite familiar to Nikon modern lenses. Optical structure of the lens includes 14-elements in 9 groups, including 3 extra-low dispersion glass elements reduce aberrations and ghosts, Nano Crystal Coating for better contrast and Fluorine coating on exposed elements affords protection to the optical system.
