Nikon has introduced the NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ, its first Power Zoom (PZ) lens for FX-format mirrorless cameras. Designed for documentary work, solo creators, and small crews, it offers a versatile focal range, smooth zoom control, and professional build quality.

The 28-135mm f/4 PZ uses a stepping motor (STM) for silent, precise zooming, reducing focus breathing for natural-looking footage. It supports 11 zoom speeds, adjustable via the zoom lever or two L-Fn buttons.
Users can customize the zoom ring’s rotation and angle, while remote control is possible through NX Tether software, SnapBridge, and NX Field apps on a computer, smartphone, or tablet.
This lens covers 28mm to 135mm, so it eliminates the need for frequent lens changes. Additionally, it focuses as closely as 13.4 inches at 28-50mm and 22.4 inches at 135mm. As a result, it is useful for both wide-angle and telephoto shots.
Its internal zoom design keeps the center of gravity stable, essential for gimbal work and handheld shooting.
Paired with the Nikon Z9, the Hi-Res Zoom feature extends the telephoto reach to a 270mm equivalent while keeping a 4K resolution. The Synchro mode enables coordinated optical and digital zoom for smooth framing adjustments.
Weighing 2.66 lbs, the Nikon 28-135mm f/4 PZ balances well with gimbals and stabilizers. Nikon’s Meso Amorphous Coat minimizes flare and ghosting, while a fluorine coating repels dust and moisture.

A rectangular lens hood effectively blocks unwanted light. Additionally, its filter adjustment window allows quick changes to polarizers or ND filters without needing to remove the hood.
