Western Digital Introduces Next-Generation WD_Black Game Storages

With a focus on gaming enthusiasts, Western Digital has introduced three new products that are part of the next generation of WD_Black gaming storage. It is the first WD_Black SN850 M.2 Gen 4 PCIe NVMe SSD, WD_BLACK AN1500 PCIe NVMe SSD Add-in-Card, and WD_BLACK D50 Game Dock PCIe NVMe SSD Station.

WD_Black SN850 M.2 Gen 4 PCIe NVMe SSD

The WD_Black SN850 PCIe Gen 4 drive offers read speeds up to 7000 MB/s and write speeds up to 5300 MB/s (the manufacturer specifies that these figures refer to a 1TB model). The SSD drive, which uses the WD_Black G2 controller, is optimized for gaming and is not intended for NAS or server environments, the company says. It cuts game and level load times using brand new caching technology.

It is available in 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage options starting at $150, and pre-order has already been started on BestBuy and Newegg websites. They should be on sale before the end of October. A version with a radiator is also planned to reduce the risk of performance degradation due to overheating. The radiator is decorated with RGB lighting.

WD_BLACK AN1500 PCIe NVMe SSD Add-in-Card

The WD_Black AN1500 expansion card is equipped with a PCIe Gen3 x8 interface and supports bootstrapping. It has two solid-state drives, which are combined into a RAID 0 array. The read speed reaches 6500 MB/s, the write speed is 4100 MB/s (for 2 TB and 4 TB models). The card is equipped with a heatsink, also decorated with RGB lighting. It is also available to pre-order Newegg.com store in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB storage options and pricing starts from $300.

WD_BLACK D50 Game Dock PCIe NVMe SSD

The WD_Black D50 Game Dock NVMe SSD, according to the manufacturer, turns a Thunderbolt 3 compatible laptop into an “immersive integrated gaming station.” Simply put, it adds a solid-state drive and multiple ports to the configuration of the laptop, connecting to it with a single cable. A dock with a 1TB drive costs $500, or without drive – $320.

Apart from this, at the end of 2019, Western Digital Corporation began shipping trial samples of 18TB Ultrastar DC HC550 SATA HDD for the enterprise segment. Their release was announced in September 2019, and now the new Western Digital HDD is available to buy on the Bhphoto store.
