After the official announcement of the Sony A6300 and G Master lenses worldwide, Sony has a new firmware update for Sony A7r II, A7S, A7II, A7, A6000 and A5100 to support for new G Master lenses and additional features such as Phase-detection AF.
Changes and Improvements for A7rII, A7II, A7r, A7S in new Firmware:
- New lenses are supported, including new G Master lenses
- Phase-detection AF is supported
- The AF can be used in movie recording mode with the SEL85F14GM
- Improves 4K movie recording time when using the vertical grip (VG-C2EM) or when the APS-C/Super35mm mode is activated
- Improves picture quality
- Adds the selectable feature for uncompressed 14-Bit RAW image capture
- Adds support to output video via HDMI during use of the Remote Camera Control software (still mode only)
- Reduces the chance of the camera changing to front focus when shooting certain scenes
- Decreases chroma noise when Long Exposure NR (Noise Reduction) is set to Off
- Improves continuous shooting at Hi speed so that it can be used just as long when using the flash as without the flash
Changes and Improvements for A7, A6000 and A5100 in new Firmware:
- New lenses are supported, including new G Master lenses
- Phase-detection AF is supported
- The lens name will be correctly recorded in the EXIF
- The AF can be used in movie recording mode with the SEL85F14GM
- The startup time is shortened
- Improves camera function and provides picture improvement for the new lenses
- Improves the power-on time after downloading the Smart Remote Control application
- Improves image quality
- Supports the Fast Hybrid AF function and future Fast Hybrid AF compatible E mount lenses
- Adds the Focus hold button function
- Supports the Liveview Grading and Smooth Reflection applications
- Supports the smooth automatic exposure feature in the Time-lapse application ver. 2.00 and later
Sorry, but for example “Adds the selectable feature for uncompressed 14-Bit RAW image capture” is not true for A7S and A7R. Also phase-detection AF is not even available by the hardware on those cameras. So your list is not fitting to all listed models.
