NAMM 2020: Denon DJ Prime 2 and Prime Go Standalone DJ Equipment announced

No NAMM without surprise. Actually, it was only a matter of time before Denon would bring the compact version of the flagship Denon DJ Prime 4 controller – but two of them? The Denon DJ Prime 2 and Prime Go have been announced at NAMM 2020.

If the Prime 2 places itself as the little brother of the Denon Prime 4, according to the manufacturer an “essential mobile DJ workhorse” on two channels, the Denon DJ Prime Go goes one step further when it comes to mobility. And Denon DJ also integrates a battery so that you can use it easily on the go. Indoor, outdoor, rooftop, beach party, with the right battery box, a gig on the beach is also no problem.

DJ Prime 2 and Prime Go are aimed at party people, wedding and working DJs or mobile event service providers and all those who want to play without a laptop from a USB stick and appreciate comfort.

Nevertheless, they offer quite a few amenities that you already know from the flagship, e.g. Engine OS, Touchscreen display, FX, SD card slot, USB stick ports or streaming via WiFi, which is on both devices on board.

Denon DJ Prime Go

The Denon DJ Prime 2 and Prime Go are professional standalone, 2-deck mobile, club, and event DJ console that is powered by the Engine OS and has Wi-Fi enabled for music streaming services. These DJ equipment does not require a laptop computer and can analyze tracks directly from the Engine OS loaded into the devices.

Engine OS provides extensive media source and compatibility, allowing for collections from iTunes, Serato DJ, Traktor and rekordbox to be read without the need for a computer. Simply insert a flash or SD drive, and the Engine OS will read and display all playlists, hot cues, loops, and more.

Both have an integrated 7-inch multi-touch, multi-gesture screen and 6-inch jog wheels with color displays provide a ton of interactive feedback allowing for expressive EQ, FX, and creative workflow controls. The rear panel includes a multitude of inputs and outputs including RCA line-level inputs for adding an auxiliary audio source such as a tablet, phone, or mobile music device. Two high-performance combo microphone inputs (XLR-1/4″) with gain, 3-band EQ, and talkover allow you to integrated performers, MCs, and announcers.
