MSI Spatium Series M.2 2280 SSD now on Sale

MSI has announced the launch of its Spatium series of SSD drive for PC. The lineup includes the M480, M470, and M370 models. All of them are made in the M.2 2280 SSD form factor, so they are equally well suited for installation on desktops and laptops.

The M480 and M470 are PCIe Gen 4 and NVMe 1.4 compliant. Another common feature of the M480 and M470 is the presence of a DRAM buffer. The M480 claims a maximum data transfer rate of 7000 MB/s sequential read and 6850 MB/s sequential write. The performance reaches 650,000 IOPS in reading mode and 700,000 IOPS in write mode. This SSD drive for PC will be available in three sizes: 500 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB. The resource is 350, 700 and 1400 TBW, respectively.

The M370 is the entry-level PCIe Gen3 model. It is available in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB capacities. The resource is 200, 400, 800 and 1600 TBW. The speed characteristics of this model meet all modern standards due to the excellent read speed of 2400 MB/s, as well as data writing at 1850 MB/s. A separate item is worth noting the performance of the drive. So, in the read mode, the performance is 220,000 IOPS, and in the write mode – as much as 350,000 IOPS.

Powered by the latest 3D NAND Flash technology of the latest generation, Spatium drives combine compact size with a large amount of memory. The new MSI Spatium solid-state drives are equipped with built-in data protection and error correction functions (modules) to ensure safety and extend the lifespan of storage devices.

All PCIe NVMe SSD models use SLC caching. In addition, all Spatium SSDs support error correction features such as LPDC ECC and E2E Data Protection. They are backed by a five-year warranty.

Price and availability

MSI Spatium M.2 2280 SSD series is already on sale in online store. The pricing starts from $149 for the entry-level model with 1TB storage.

Recently, SK Hynix SSD has also expanded its portfolio of energy-efficient Gold P31 PCIe NVMe SSD with a new 2TB model. The SKhynix has released 1TB and 500GB models last year. The SK Hynix Gold P31 series 2TB NVMe PCIe drive has been priced at $279.99.
