MSI’s latest ultra-wide gaming display promises a first-class gaming experience thanks to a 49-inch QD-OLED panel that achieves an HDR peak brightness of 1,000 nits and a frame rate of 240 Hz. The MSI MPG 491CQPX QD-OLED is also ideal for laptop use thanks to USB-C Power Delivery.
At the beginning of the year, MSI announced the MPG 491CQP based on an ultra-wide 49-inch QD-OLED panel in 32:9 format. The MPG 491CQPX follows, primarily increasing the frame rate from 144 Hz to 240 Hz. This should make movements smoother, although MSI still advertises a response time of just 0.03 milliseconds.
The panel achieves a resolution of 5,120 x 1,440 pixels with a pixel density of 109 PPI. Consequently, the screen area and resolution correspond almost precisely to two 27-inch 16:9 monitors placed side by side. Furthermore, MSI curves the panel with a radius of 1,800R, ensuring stable viewing angles across the entire surface. The 240Hz ultra-wide display achieves an HDR peak brightness of 1,000 nits but only reaches 250 nits on the whole surface, as is usual with current OLED monitors.
MSI combines a graphene film with a passive heat sink to cool the monitor without a fan and thus silently. MSI OLED Care 2.0 prevents burn-in by dimming static logos and the Windows taskbar and regularly shifting them by individual pixels.
For users who want to connect a laptop in addition to a gaming PC, MSI offers a USB-C port that can charge notebooks with up to 98 watts, as well as two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4. A USB hub with two ports, an integrated KVM switch, and “AI Vision” for brightening dark areas in games round off the features.
