MSI has launched a new best budget gaming laptop equipped with Intel’s latest Tiger Lake-H chips. Key features of the MSI Pulse GL66 include an Intel Core i7-11800H processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 graphics, a 15.6-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate, and more.
MSI has launched a series of laptops for gaming equipped with Intel’s new Intel Tiger Lake-H processor. One of them is the new MSI GL66, which is the epitome of the best gaming laptops, with a high refresh rate screen, RGB keyboard, and more.
It is possible to configure the MSI Pulse GL66 with up to an Intel Core i7-11800H (eight cores, sixteen threads), coupled with 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM and a 1 TB NVMe SSD, RAM is not soldered, and the laptop supports up to 64 GB of memory. MSI uses its new Cooling Boost 5 technology to keep temperatures under control. It consists of two fans and six heat pipes, which increase the airflow by 15%
Except for the entry-level version, all variants of the MSI GL66 come with a 15.6-inch IPS LCD screen clocked at 144Hz. Other specifications include a 3ms response time and NTSC color gamut coverage of up to 72%. The choice of GPU extends to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 (8 GB VRAM). Unfortunately, MSI failed to mention its power consumption, which is critical now that Nvidia has ditched the Max-P and Max-Q terminology.
Other features of the MSI Pulse GL66 include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, two 2W speakers, a 720p webcam, and a gigabit network. The included software allows you to configure RGB profiles for the keyboard, enable dedicated “game mode”, and much more. It’s even possible to connect the game laptop to a TV and activate console mode for a console-like experience. Finally, the MSI GL66 is powered by a 53Wh battery that can be recharged to 180W, although some low-end models only come with a 150W charger.
