Not only for gaming PCs, MSI also has some office products like the Cubi mini PC series. MSI released two new mini PCs called Cubi 3 Silent and Cubi 3 Silent S with fanless design, aluminum chassis, equivalent configuration to any office laptops.
MSI Cubi series is quite similar to Intel’s NUC products in terms of size. Cubi is a complete machine, no need to buy any hardware. MSI Cubi 3 Silent and Silent S are measured 159.9 x 110.2 x 69.5 mm only, aluminum housing with large heatsink under the top cover for passive cooling of the CPU without fan cooling. As a result, the system will consume less power, operate quietly. MSI believes that this design will reduce the risk of malfunction and increase product life.
With fanless design, MSI equips the Cubi 3 Silent and Silent S versions with Intel’s Kaby Lake-U processors but does not say anything about which Core will be used. With the integrated Intel HD Graphics, Cube 3 also supports 4K UHD screen via HDMI or up to 3 FHD monitors. In addition, MSI is also equipped with M.2 SATA/PCI-e auto switch SSD or 2.5” SATAIII HDD or SSD and up to 32GB of DDR4 2133MHz RAM for higher performance and easier upgrade. Just by removing the four screws at the bottom, you’ll add 2.5″ SSD or HDD drives or upgrade the RAM module to a maximum of 32GB.
The main difference between Cubi 3 Silent and Cubi 3 Silent S is the connectivity and ports. The Cubi 3 Silent S (left) comes with 2x USB 3.1 Gen1 (USB-A), 3.5mm combo audio jack, 2x USB 3.1 Gen1 (back) HDMI-2.0, DisplayPort 1.2, 2x RJ45, RJ45 to COM and COM for printer, 2x USB 2.0 ports on the side. While the Cubi 3 Silent S, it removes ports like COM, no two USB 2.0 ports on the side and only one RJ-45 port.
The all-in-one Cubi 3 integrates wireless connectivity such as Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi ac adapter with Intel Wireless-AC 3168 Dual Card. LAN connection with Intel Giga LAN WGI219V + Intel I211 LAN Controller. Cubi 3 uses 65W as the laptop.
The MSI Cubi 3 Silent and Silent S weighs just 1.27 to 1.36 kg so it is also very convenient to carry, while pricing and availability yet to be unveiled.
